Former X Factor contestant Mitchell Callaway, known for his appearance on the Australian version of the show, has found himself at the center of a tragic incident after being charged with the murder of a baby. This distressing news comes after a diligent five-year investigation by the local police force.

On a somber Thursday morning, authorities were seen leading Callaway from a residence in Bowraville, New South Wales, following his arrest. Subsequently, the 37-year-old was formally charged with the murder of a 9-month-old infant at Macksville Police Station.

The heart-wrenching incident took place on July 23, 2018 when emergency services were called to a residence in Binnaway due to reports of an unresponsive baby girl. Though the investigation into the baby’s untimely passing initially faced obstacles, the dedication of the police officers ultimately bore fruit.

Recently, a breakthrough occurred when fresh information came to light, prompting the authorities to execute a search warrant at a property in Binnaway on May 31. Through further inquiries, diligent detectives were able to apprehend and charge Callaway on Thursday, June 8, at 9:45 am.

Pending legal proceedings, Callaway has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear before Macksville Local Court later today. A brief appearance was made in Macksville Local Court on the same day, where he faced one count of murder. However, his next court appearance is set to take place before Coffs Harbour local court on Tuesday.
